Yasser Mahmood and Abdi Seerar
|
Two men have been jailed for mugging
and sexually assaulting a woman with learning difficulties after she left a
nightclub.
Detectives have described the attack
in January last year as a “despicable crime” and said Yasser Mahmood and Abdi
Seerar preyed on their “vulnerable” victim.
Birmingham Crown Court heard how the
20-year-old woman had left a nightclub in the city when the duo struck on the
night of January 27.
They sexually assaulted her and
ransacked her handbag before taking her purse.
Mahmood, aged 23, was caught in the
act by the girl’s mother who reported what she had seen to police, reports the
Birmingham Mail .
Mahmood, of Deford Drive, Smethwick,
was jailed for two years and three months. Seerar, aged 27, of no fixed
address, received an eight-month jail sentence.
The pair will also be required to sign the sex offenders
register for 10 years.
