Ojata rallies Kogi East behind Yahaya Bello

Gideon Enema Ojata

A respected Igala business man and political leader, Mr. Gideon Enema Ojata has dismissed insinuations that the people of Kogi East are against the emergence of the Governor-Elect, insisting that the people of the area have accepted the divine emergence of Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello as the man to lead the state into greatness.

Speaking exclusively to Vanguard in Lokoja, Monday, the business man cum politician said it has become imperative for the state to explore the opportunity offered by the emergence of a “a great and dynamic leader to foster unity, peace and development in the state”.

According to the Ofu Local Government Area-born entrepreneur, the people of the East are not as tribalistic as people insinuate, saying, “the interest of the people is good governance and general development that will enhance their standards of living”.

He said: “Kogi East people see Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello as a son of the soil. From now, everywhere is his home and I want to assure him that Kogi East people are behind him. We will continue to appeal to the conscience of those that are aggrieved one way or the other.

“We are sad that we lost a great leader in Prince Abubakar Audu who was the Architect of a new Kogi. But we must move on and do him proud through the development of the state.

We have been holding meetings with our people and they have come to terms with the need to back the people’s governor. Kogi East had been governor in the past and they enjoyed the support of the Okuns, Ebiras, Bassas, Nupes and other ethnic groups in the state.

“I am one of those who strongly feel the Deputy Governor of Kogi State should come to Kogi East. But my support for the Governor-Elect is not anchored on my desire to be his number two. I am supporting him because he has the capacity to make Kogi one of the greatest states in Nigeria.

I will work with other leaders in the state to support the Governor-Elect”.

On the areas that need urgent attention in the state, Ojata urged the Governor-Elect to concentrate on areas such as salaries, waste management and roads, saying, “the people of the state will start judging Alh Yahaya Bello from his first day in office.

“Driving through Lokoja and some roads in all the Senatorial Districts, our desire for change has been pumped. Our governor must prioritize some of these roads as well as look into salaries of workers.

We also want to see him transform Lokoja into a 21st Century state capital with good roads and other infrastructures.

“Our Governor-Elect should also use his goodwill to empower our youths through agriculture and industrialization. From January 27, we shall be marching forward”, Vanguard Report.
