Lawmakers intervene in Kogi political crisis.



The House of Representatives has constituted a ten-man delegation to amicably resolve the political crisis in the Nigerian central state of Kogi.

The decision, followed a motion moved before the House seeking for the lawmakers’ intervention into the lingering crises at the State’s House of Assembly.

Announcing the delegation, the Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara said the measure was part of the House’s efforts to strengthen democracy in the country.

The House at a plenary session considered for second reading of four bills to alter the country’s constitution to establish state police, provide Mayor for the Capital City, Abuja as well as to establish more Code of Conduct Tribunals, VON reports.
