An appeal court in Mauritania has
upheld the death sentence of a blogger accused of blasphemy.
Mohamed Cheikh Ould Mohamed was
arrested two years ago after uploading an article onto the internet criticising
people for using religion as a means of discrimination.
There were public celebrations in
Mauritania when he was sentenced to death.
The case has now been referred to the
Supreme Court because the blogger apologised.
The court can repeal the sentence.
