Bristow records another Helicopter crash barely six months after the first in Lagos Lagoon

Eleven people which comprises of 9 Passenger and a crew of two have survived a Bristow helicopter crash that occurred around the Murtala Muhammed International  Airport, eyewitnesses have said.

The crash has been confirmed by the Public Relations Officer, South-West National Emergency Management Agency, Ibrahim Farinloye.

An official of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency said the helicopter was en-route Lagos from Port Harcourt.

The crash occurred five months after another helicopter crash in Lagos claimed the lives of six people.

Recall that in August 2015, a Bristow Helicopter with 12 people on board had crashed into the Lagos Lagoon, killing six people including the pilot and co-pilot. The helicopter was flying to Lagos from an oil rig in Delta State when the crash occurred.

Meanwhile, the Management of Bristow said, “all persons onboard are accounted for and in the process of being transferred to a nearby installation.

“The company is in the process of collecting pertinent information and will release more details as soon as it is available.” They also said that the aircraft did not crash but landed in water.

@AviationGistNg tweet hat the cause of the crash was control ditching failure and not engine failure.
